A T1 line is broadly used as a high-speed Internet access
point delivered through copper wires or a fiber optic line,
which can transfer speeds up to 1.544 megabits per second.
Other uses for a T1 line are running 24 digital voice channels
to use for phones. There are other hybrids of such lines that
would allow transfer of both data and voice, meaning it would
allow the consumer to use the internet and the phone on the
same line but through different channels. T1 lines are mainly
used for large to small businesses. However, there are some
cases where a T1 line is used for a residential location,
when there isn't any other service available such as DSL or
Cable.
